What do you think about Great Wall?

Great Wall is a monument history of Chinese, is a famous landmark in the world. The Great Wall is a wall which was built by land and rocks from the 5th century BC to 16th century, to protect the Chinese Empire from the attacks of the Xiongnu, Mongolia. Many people known Great Wall, but not many people had set foots here and really feel.
Fortunately, I was one of the people who was travel Great Wall.
Was I really one of those people? I know I rode three hours in a cramped and sweaty van, cracking jokes with random Australians, to reach Jinghshalin- an unrestored, less touristy swath of the Great Wall. Our guide handed us a bottle of water, a Snickers bar and a map, pointed us in the general direction of the pick up point and let us loose. I know all of that happened for sure, but the rest of it?
    Great wall 1
Did I really walk on the great wall itself? Observe the dizzying outline as it twisted up and down among the hills? Did I climb the rugged stairs, curving like the back of some huge beast? The stairs of Kyoto have nothing on the Great Wall.
    Great wall 2
    Great wall 3
The air was crisp and clean- decidely un-chinalike. No smog, not a cloud in the sky, I could see the wall winding for miles ahead and behind me. What luck for me, and for my photos. It was all so perfect, so unreal.
My companions chatted amiably but would dissipate often for moments of solitude. I stood on the watchtower and gazed out in the vastness in the direction of Mongolia, trying to imagine the fear and strategy that went into building such an enormous structure. Not to mention the manpower, blood, sweat and bones.
    Great wall 4
Even there, sitting ON the wall, it was awful hard to believe where I was.
And on the way home, with the packed dirt of the unrestored wall fresh under my fingernails I still wasn’t sure. Had I really been there?
And now here I am, in Australia. I flew out the day after my Great Wall Climb, knees still aching slightly. Sitting here, in my friend Mattie’s house in Melbourne, the whole experience seems even more remote and improbable.
Maybe that’s why we need to take pictures of ourselves posed in fron to iconic landmarks. It’s proof. Proof that we were really there, really saw the things we saw and did the things we did. Proof to others yes, but also proof to ourselves.

Shanghai City At night Review - Travel China

Shanghai is the largest city of Chinese. When travel Chinese, the bustling Shanghai city is certainly not to be missed. In thinking of all travelers before come to Shanghai, this city is fascinating city. Shanghailocated beside the peaceful Huangpu, Shanghai have a beauty ancient combination with modern of the buildings. Where there are monuments, famous scenic spots as Hoang Thanh temple, South Street Bridge, Bund, Oriental TV Tower Guangzhou, Nanjing or Temple of the Emerald Buddha ... But there are good things when before they come here. Sadly, after an excruciatingly long 48-hour boat ride from Osaka, I was not so pleased to rest my eyes on this.
Smog. A huge cloud of it blanketing the city with humid, grimy air. I spent two full days there and the entire time I felt like I was suffocating. After just one city block of wlaking I’d be out of breath, my clothes felt stiff with dirt, sweat and dust. You know those little smoker’s lounges in the airport, where the air is heavy with brown toxins? That is what the entire city of Shanghai felt like.
    Shanghai was polluted
    Shanghai was polluted2
    Environmental pollution in the Shanghai
Maybe I overreacted. After all, while Shanghai may be the largest city in China, it doesn’t even making it into the top 10 for most polluted (I shudder to think of what living in Lifen, China is like). But it’s pretty bad, especially if your body isn’t used to it. I miss clean air. And, to hop on my little soapbox, it really is a short-sighted shame that China is literally destroying it’s cities, people and ecosystem all for the sake of economic expansion.
So, I was feeling kind of down about my first stop in China, until I met Sasha. Sasha, the bright writer behind mind behind On Ur Way Travel and a guest poster here, teaches English in Shanghai and was happy to show me around the city. In addition to my first amazing chinese meal, she showed me aroundShanghai after dark , which is a whole new world.
At night brilliant electricity courses and crackles through the buildings of Shanghai, lighting the city up like a Christmas tree. The buildings of Pudong (Shanghai’s business center) sparkle like brilliant ornaments while glittering ferry boats float up and down the river Bund.
    Shanghai at night
    Shanghai at night2
    Shanghai at night3
    Shanghai at night
With the smog hidden under the cover of nightfall, it’s easy to forget the pollution problem. It’s easy to forget you are in China at all, here finally was the cosmopolitan city I’d been expecting, full of tourists and locals enjoying a pleasant night out in glittering Shanghai.
    Shanghai at night4
Shanghai is beautiful city at night
I have a feeling China is not going to be the easiest country to love; with it’s harsh grey, smoky exterior. I think with some patience though there are glimmering jewels to be unearthed here.
